Glimmering chandeliers, glistening lights
Men dressed in tuxedos and women dolled up nice
Glorious food gone and the lights are dimmed,
The music slows as the dance floor fills.
Looking across the hall I see you standing there
Drinking, chatting, enjoying the view
For a moment I thought I caught a glimpse of you
Looking across the dance floor when I looked at you.
Couples dancing, swaying arm in arm
Moving, swirling, feet sliding across the floor
Some coming closer then moving away
All moving in harmony to the rhythm of the song.
I enjoyed the music, enjoyed the song
Friends then got invited to the dance floor
Looking about, there's not much people I know
Then I saw you again across the dance floor
A little thought filled my mind and I started to wonder
How it would be if I danced with you
And whether you've thought of asking me to the floor
Cos you used to look but now no more
Was it meant to be, or is it not?
Have I passed my chance when you looked, I looked away
If it was not meant to be when should I look away
And stop wondering if you'll ask me to stay
