Why does all Christimas parties must be for evangelism? Why don't we just sit together and just celebrate Jesus, celebrate His gift for us and be grateful to Him? If it is a day dedicated to Jesus, why is it not done so now? The bible did not even asks us to celebrate Christmas. There's no such things as Christmas in the bible.
Anyways, I remember that day as the day I felt an intense dissatisfaction and anger churning deep in me that I have to throw don't know how many thousand reigns on me to prevent me to stand up and shout at those people.
The Christmas party being meant for evangelism was attended by quite a lot of people, with one third being non believers. Somehow I don't really blame them although it was their ridicule and making fun of the choir singing carols and the songs while worship that made my blood boil. I blame the committee for making the whole "party" being so unfriendly to non believers.
Imagine a place full of Christian jargon and singing all Christian songs, would you as a non believer feel awkward and lost and uncomfortable?
The games were bad, the speaker was bad, not interesting and not engaging, it was full of Christian jargon. The only thing that was interesting and engaging and fun is the short sketch.
First time in my life, I felt my blood boil as they taunt the songs, the words, the name, Jesus. I held my breath, almost bursting out of the hall to prevent me from exploding and survived through. I think I vowed never to attend any of those things anymore. It was, horrid.
There's a new way of doing things. God's way. We shouldn't be using man power to drag people in. It is not the songs, not the sketches, not the games that draw people in. It is not even the friendliness that draws the people in. But GOD.
A taste of the goodness of God, it is like drug. You get hooked on it. If you want it, you will come get it. I don't have to sell it to you. I don't need to create stories to lure you in. The essence of God, the Holy Spirit will draw you in.
