But even with wrong expectations from God, it leads to disappointments. Same thing applies to putting expectations on people. But nowadays it seemed like God is much easier to get to know than man because God is so eager to let us know Him whereas humans are full of mysteries, hidden thoughts, conceit and always struggling between being good or evil.
Assumptions are bad. Assumptions is quite similar to expectations. It is not the same but it comes together.
We assume that people will like it when we give them free stuff.
Compared to:
We expect people to like it when we give them free stuff.
Then when people don't like it, we get surprised. Some even take it as an insult, getting offended.
But then, different cultures have different unwritten rules which means different expectations. With different expectations comes different assumptions. Different assumptions not dealt with properly would leads to disappointments or even offence.
Are you confused yet? XD
Can we eliminate expectations? Can we eliminate assumptions? No and yes.
We can't really eliminate expectations, we can control how we react to it when it doesn't come up to our expectations because I think we tend easily form expectations. For example, a girl started to prepare breakfast for this certain person. Then she prepared breakfast for few weeks, every day. Soon the person will be expecting her to prepare breakfast every morning and when it doesn't happen, they will get surprised.
Assumptions - we can eliminate them because normally assumptions happen without communication. With a conscious mind to confirm with someone about things and not assume things (in other words, interpret it in their own way without knowing what others are thinking) and also knowing that others might not have the same thing in mind, assumptions can be eliminated.
Normally it's the assumptions that leads to misunderstandings because communication didn't take place then it becomes miscommunication too because the actual meaning didn't get communicated across.
I won't deny that I have been hurt by many of these things. Which drives me to write this analysis. Yeah, it's hurting and I'm still figuring out what to do.
What do you think about this?
