After that I kept asking God how to remove it. At first I got the idea of asking God to transform that image into the image of Jesus. But it didn't happen. The fear continues to be there. Then I tried renouncing the fear. It's still there. Until one night I opened up the Steps to Freedom book and went to the fear part. The prayer was awesome and I only see how true and complete it is. The prayer goes like this...
Dear Lord,The highlighted part is the key to it. The lie that we believe in unconsciously, without reason when we fear something that is not worth fearing. And after renouncing the fear AND the lie, now I don't fear any more :D
I confess and repent of the fear of __________. I have believed (state the lie) [something like, I have believed that the ghost/banshee/ugly scary woman thing is more scary/powerful than God.] I renounce that lie, and I choose to believe in the truth (state the truth) [that He who is in me is more powerful that he who is in the world, that I don't have to fear that thing because God is more powerful]. I also confess any and all ways this fear has resulted in living irresponsibly, or compromising my witness for Christ. I now choose to live by faith in You, Lord, believing Your promise that You will protect me and meet all my needs as I live by faith in You. In Jesus' trustworthy name, amen.
I realise that in a lot of things where we are unconsciously struggling but can't figure it out, is mostly out of our unconscious belief in a lie that quietly slips into our mind. Even on desires of flesh which either distracts us from God or prevents us from coming to God. In that one, we believe that the things we desire would gratify us when they actually don't. The only thing that can fully satisfy us is God and all that He offers.
There are lots of promises of God that we should be meditating on because it builds us up and strengthen us in Him. God assures us so much in His promises and every word that comes from His mouth will not go back to Him empty. Promises like, we are His children and Satan is under our feet all day, He will never leave us nor forsake us, Draw near to Him and He will draw near to us.... Meditating on it, believing and standing on those promises which are so wonderful... how awesome is that!!!
So the above, if you have any fears that are crippling, that you do not like, renounce it using that prayer above and meditate on His promises, His word. Renew your mind with His word.
Thank you Lord for my freedom in You :D
