Fatty Rice

I've always been a sucker for Malaysian food. Particularly the one and only Nasi Lemak. And it becomes worse now after 4 months without it back in Borneo. And I'm supposed to be on diet. *Cries*

Every evening, at precisely 6.40pm the sound of the honk travels up to my room from the ground floor. A pang of excitement grips me as I quickly scuttle around my room to look for my wallet. The aunty Pon Pon as we are used to refer to her, is here. She is the one who comes to our blocks everyday on her motorbike, bringing plasticbagfulls of food to sell to us students who doesn't go out to get food. Her arrival is announced by the sound of her honk.

Sounds of doors opening and closing and footsteps down the stairs fills the air. I got my money and proceed down the stairs too.

First there's only a few students crouching around the few orange plastic bags. There were kuihs, brown packets of food, noodles and some other food. I quickly went to grab a small pyramid-shaped packet wrapped in newspaper and asked for the price of it.

"Due setengeah." the Aunty Pon Pon replied.

I gave her the exact amount of money and proceed up the stairs as more and more students came down towards her. I forgot how expensive hers are.

I reached my room at the top floor, sat down and quickly opened the newspaper wrapping. A beautiful sight welcomed my eyes. Hello, beautiful nasi lemak!

Every spoonful is filled with a tasty combination of sweetness, saltiness and spiciness. It's the right balance of each flavor that makes it perfect to the taste.

Okay I don't have the patience to come up with the perfect words to beautifully describe the whateverness of the nasi lemak. Just come to Malaysia and taste. :P

Actually I'm rather tired. Been out the whole day attending one of the courses. Tired but can't nap. Bad bad. OH perhaps its the coffee just now! BUT!!!!! just now although with the coffee, I still fall asleep! But now can't sleep when I need to. T.T
